From Kitepassion Tarifa Surf School we encourage you to learn and practice surfing. Possibly hardest water sport, demanding from the physical point but also the most rewarding and full of feelings.
As a tip for beginners rent a soft board. We recommend this type of board for their great buoyancy and ability to overcome the failure to perform take off. They are also extremely safe because if it hits you do not cause any damage or the foam or with fins. Within these tables we recommend the brand Manual Soft boards. They are the ones we have in our surf school and the truth that both performance and durability are spectacular.
Once you have a better level, try to get a standard epoxy board, we recommend that you seek an evolutionary, rounded tip and specially designed for medium waves and small. In our school we also have these types of boards for training courses and to rent.
About the wetsuit, the perfect measure in Tarifa is 4/3, as the water is cold in winter and warmer in summer somewhat but it is still cold due to the currents generated by the confluence between the Mediterranean and Atlantic. In summer the temperature may be around 18º / 19º.
In Tarifa, we have three main surf spots: Balneario, Punta Paloma and bunker Arte y Vida. Although our school also has a privileged location just 5 minutes from the beach and a great place to learn it is the mouth of Rio Jara, walking to the right from the football field. A sandbank is formed with a perfect wave to learn.
Within the class and the spot has been chosen. The first thing we do is to explain the theory of take off, as the paddle and the wave face. Do not forget to warm up and once the appropriate physical tone water reached to enjoy the sea, the waves and nature.
